So two things have happened recently which I've decided would be rather fun to blog about and slightly make fun of myself.
On Ethan's birthday Lance, Ethan, and I went up into the mountains and we went shooting. And I couldn not believe how bad I had become! The last time I went, back in November, I was really quite a good shot but this time? Whoa oh oh- this time was bad. I could not hit something to save my life (although I did manage to put a hole in Lance's shooting post...I feel kind of bad about that...)
But despite the fact that I was terrible shot, and despite Lances' incessant teasing I had a fantastic time! First of all I was out shooting which I NEVER get to do, second of all we shot some really fun things. One of the things he had for me to shoot was a coffee can. Lance explained that if I just shot it it would either just fall off the log, or the bullet would just go through the can and nothing exciting would happen- however if I aimed for just UNDER the coffee can, at the log I could make the can jump in the air. And I did. And oh did that log jump!
Another thing we shot were flowers! Oh it was fantastic! The heads of Balsa Root flowers would just explode right off if you shot them perfectly! And there was another flower (that shall remain nameless for now) that we stuck in the barrel of the gun and shot and it was like 4th of July! Ah, it was fantastic!
And on the way back down the mountain we picked a boquet of flowers for Dieuwke, ah, it was so sweet.
And then today...ah today...
Today Amy, Dieuwke and I went on a hike. And this was not like any other hike I've ever been on. You know The Waterfall Hike, or Ben Lomands Peak? Yeah, I discovered today that those are all sissy hikes! THIS hike, was indeed a hike.
2 hours up, an 1 and 15 minutes down. So- not the longest hike. But it was steep. So steep. And it was beautiful! Don't get me wrong I mean, I would have enjoyed it anyway, but the scenery made it marvelous! That is one thing I will always adore about Washington- it is one of the prettiest places I've ever been, and this hike was stunning!
However, the fact that I was in a black t-shirt, jeans, and shoes that tied but were by no means sneakers (don't look at me like that, I had no other option) well, that was not so stunning.
By the end of the hike my feet hurt, my legs hurt, and I'm pretty sure I've strained muscles that don't even exist! But it was fun! So so fun!!!*
*disclaimer: Just because it was fun does NOT mean I ever want to go through that again...

I'm not sure you are talking about the same Ben Lomand Peak that I climbed - because it was long and rather arduous (especially the part where you summit...) Glad to hear that you enjoyed your hike (hopefully enough that the benefits will out way the not so fun memories)It's amazing how what you remembers can have an impact on your willingness to do it again (look at women who have more than one child...)
I love shooting. I need to get somewhere and do that - it would be so much fun! (Why would a flower have to remain nameless? Is there a protection program for it?)
Your comment on my 'Confession' post almost killed me - death by choking on chex is never a good thing but what are you going to do when somebody says something like that? Honestly you might want to be more careful sometimes...;)
Yay for shooting crazy stuff! Next time, have Lance take you somewhere with water; sounds crazy cool, believe me.
Glad to hear you are having such a grand time!! See you soon!
