It Starts So Young

One of the many things that I do indeed love about living up here is the complete inflow of stories that I always have to tell. Today for instance, on the way to church the funniest thing happened.

I was sitting in the front seat of the car, Ethan directly behind me. I kept hearing these funny noises and feeling things brush past my arm but I couldn't figure out what it was and so I put it out of my head. Then, just before we pull into the church parking lot Ethan says to me, "Auntie- shouldn't you check and see if you have paper in your hair?"

My first thought was, "What the random? Why on earth would I have paper in my hair?" Then all of a sudden the noises I had heard and the things brushing past my arm made sense and I hastily ran a hand over the back of my head to discover that I did indeed have 2 paper balls stuck in my hair. As I'm pulling them out Ethan is giggling wildly and I asked him what on earth had possessed him to tear up tiny pieces of paper, roll them into a ball, and throw them madly onto his Aunt's head in hopes that one or two of them would stick. (As they obviously did)

He looks at me, then down at his blanket- then up at me again and says, "The blanket told me to do it! It's because you're so cute Auntie" (Now really, how am I supposed to get mad at him for throwing paper in my hair if it's because I'm so cute? I just don't think I can!) Apparently he was trying to get my attention (because I'm so cute of course) and you know how boys are at that age. They like you = They terrorize you (I cannot WAIT to see him in middle school!)

What cracked me up more than anything, was the realization that this occurrence brought to me. I used to think that boys learned things like teasing and throwing paper into girls' hair from older brothers or from older friends- no, it is actually encoded into their DNA how to tease a girl if you like her. It's just something that is common sense to a boy- it is part of who they are. And boy oh boy- does it start young.

lol it's encoded into their DNA! You are hilarious, my dear! :)
Kids do and say the funniest things! Yesterday, I was playing "Transformers" with Makai in Tannon's Parents' backyard. It's his favorite game to play! He is always Bumblebee, and I'm always Optimus Prime. Anyway, we were going around the backyard flying and shooting things like Transformers usually do in their sparetime until Makai decided to stop in his Grandpa's strawberry patch and pick strawberries in order to get our transformer "energy". We found a really WEIRD looking strawberry and decided it was "poisonous". I gave Makai the strawberry and said, "Go give this poison strawberry to that Decepticon over there! (as i pointed to Tannon) Then he'll die and the autobots WIN! But don't let him know that it's poisonous or he won't eat it!"
So Makai did just that. He took the strawberry and started shouting over to Tannon, "Hey decepticon! Want this poison strawberry?? It's really yummy!!"
And I just shook my head.
Aren't kids hilarious?? :)
I so LOVE enjoy your blog posts! It's a fun way of keeping up with you! Ethan is such a cutie!

Too funny! I'm with you I always thought that teasing/tormenting the girls they like was a learned trait. Just goes to show how little us girls know about boys. This story was awesome and I loved how you wrote it. Totally made my day. Love you!

Right along with liking trucks and guns for toys instead of princess dolls...not a learned thing! I know, because we canvased this IN DETAIL in one of my ridiculously liberal and pointless psychology classes. Or maybe it was anthropology...
Anyway, loved it!!
