So, in an exciting turn of events Sunday was not only MY birthday but also the birthday of my little nephew, Samuel David Brown!! YAY! Yes, I am exactly 18 years and 40 minutes older than my little 9 lbs 2 oz, brown hair and blue eyed little nephew. I'm thinking that these numbers have some significance... :P No, but it was very exciting to wake up to that news and the congratulations for Steph and Mycal and the new little addition to the family!
My birthday was a wonderful day! I celebrated the first hour by closing up at work and dropping money off, but I came home at around 12:53 to a beautifully decorated house that my sister had spent about 4 hours on. (I am trying to get pictures!) Pam figured that since it was just me and her for my happy 18th she'd do her absolute best to make it the best she could, and she did a great job!
I got to bed at about 2 and I was woken at 6 by the phone ringing--it was my dad calling to wish me Happy Birthday! Apparently he'd set his alarm so that he could call me at midnight wishing me a happy birthday, but it was the wrong 12 that he'd set it for so he woke up realizing he hadn't called, but he very sweetly fixed that. After his call I promptly fell asleep again and woke to the news I had a new nephew! This was followed by church (in which many interesting conversations about dumpster diving ensued...) which was followed by my coming home to a very floral room. My cousin and friends had bought me 18 different types of flowers and hung them all over my room!
I then got to veg, and get calls from family, and eat, and veg more. I didn't study at all. I didn't clean at all. I didn't do anything productive at all! It was a beautiful day and I can't thank Pam enough for putting it all together! I love birthdays!! Aren't they just such happy days?! And I love being 18. I've never felt any different about any of my other birthdays, but I feel different about this one. I feel different. It's like I've entered a new chapter of my life--one I'm way excited for!!!

You left out the drugs in the chocolate conversation in church. Truly sunday school is educational :)
Still... I'm glad that you enjoyed yourself
I am super glad that Pam was the one there to make it a special day; she so totally rocks that scene. I am glad it turned out so awesome!! Just because we couldn't be there to party with you, doesn't mean we didn't wish we could!!
Sounds like a perfect birthday except nobody was there but Pam. Thank goodness for her. I remember turning 18 -- I was all alone in Cedar City going to school and nobody celebrated it with me. Sorry I missed it but now I will be able to remember when S. David Brown's birthday is
Pam totally rocked! I am glad that she helped make your birthday so much fun! I now know why I totally spaced the day. In my mind I had already celebrated. You know the present, dinner, & all. I already thought you were 18!
Another one! Goodness me I've really been bad at commenting lately. Please forgive your slacker sister...
Dieuwke's comment made me laugh because I've thoght you were 18 for a year or two...it's just so hard to remember that you only just turned it with you being in college and all. I'm glad you had a lovely birthday filled with good food (a must) good movies (another must) more good food, decorations (a pleasant bonus...I know it's not a must because I usually don't get them but they so make the day special!) and lots of love!
Am so happy that you excited about the special bond between you and Samuel - it's really something one of a kind!
Love you!
